Dr. Jahiel teaches courses in Environmental Studies, Chinese Politics, and International
                     Politics.  Her research interests focus on the political economy of environment and
                     development, the Chinese reforms, policy implementation and state capacity in China,
                     the media and environmental politics, environmental justice, and the interaction between
                     consumer society and environmental sustainability.  She has conducted extensive research
                     in China and has participated in working groups on China and the environment sponsored
                     by the Woodrow Wilson Center and the Council on Foreign Relations.  Dr. Jahiel is
                     co-Director of the Environmental Studies program and co-Chair of the University's
                     Green Task Force.
